
The Israel Philharmonic Brass Quintet is a chamber ensemble formed by principal players of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. The group is regularly playing since the 50's, performing with the various generations of players.
With many appearances in the main chamber festivals in Israel, the IPO Brass Quintet has been performing abroad as well, achieving both public and critics success.

Ram Oren (trumpet) is a graduate of Indiana University and continued his studies in New York and Chicago. He was Principal Trumpet of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and of the Israel Symphony Orchestra - Rishon Lezion, and is currently Associate Principal Trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He appeared as soloist with the IPO, the Jerusalem Symphony, the Moscow Virtuoso Orchestra, the Moscow Soloists, the Bach Soloists of Munich, the Camerata Orchestra, the Kibbutz Chamber Orchestra and others. He also took part in the Upper Galilee Music Days and recorded for radio. He is a faculty member of the Israel Military Band Music College and gives master classes in Israel and abroad. Yigal Meltzer, Principal Trumpet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since the 2001-02 season, was born in Israel in 1969. He started his trumpet studies with Richard Berlin in Jerusalem and later studied with Robert Frear, former IPO Principal Trumpet Player. In 1991 he joined the IPO and in 1993 he was sent to the USA to study with Philip Smith, Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, and Jim Pandolfi of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Since 1992 Yigal Meltzer has been a member of the Musica Nova Ensemble, with whom he has appeared as soloists. He has also made solo appearances with the Herzlyia Chamber Orchestra, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. He has recorded several recitals for Israeli radio..
