Thomas Gansch was born in St. Poelten on December 31st 1975. Raised in Melk/Danube his first Teacher was his Father Johann Gansch (1925-1998), who was the leader of the local Brass Band. After finishing school, Gansch began to study classical Trumpet at the Vienna Music University with Prof. Pomberger from 1991 to 1994 and Prof.Holler from 1994 to 1997. He did two Master classes with Ack von Royen in 1995 and 1996 and was hired for the Vienna Art Orchestra in 1998.
His primarily work with the group “Mnozil Brass” ,which was founded in 1992,
gave him the opportunity to do shows in more than forty different countries.
The group Gansch & Roses was established in 2001. Gansch has also been working as a composer for these ensembles and numerous others. He won the “Hans Koller Preis” in 2002 as “Newcomer of the Year”. For the “Salzburg Festival 2008”,Gansch and his fellow musicians from “Mnozil Brass” were writing the music to the Opera “Irmingard”.
