The Silicon Valley Brass Band is a large brass and percussion ensemble formed in the tradition of the British brass band. A traditional brass band strives to emulate the rich, full sound of a pipe organ. In order to achieve this unique sound, they utilize the following instruments: Bb Cornets, Eb Soprano Cornet, Flugel Horn, Eb Tenor Horns (instead of Horns in F), Euphoniums and Baritones, Tenor Trombones, Bass Trombone, Bb and Eb Basses and percussionists playing a wide variety of instruments.
The Silicon Valley Brass Band begins its second season, 2009-2010, with a concert on Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 2:30pm in their new concert series venue at West Valley College.
