NuTrad is one of the newest and most interesting additions to the jazz scene, a sophisticated blend of the "New" and "Traditional" music. NuTrad seek to break down walls between popular music and jazz, and to show the world that there are only two types of music - good and bad.
Many modern day jazz musicians never attempt to play popular music or to adapt it into the jazz genre. Believe it or not jazz musicians used to play "Pop" music all the time. In fact, ironically enough, many of the old popular tunes they played in the 30's, 40's and 50's have become known today as jazz standards in the jazz community.
The band has been formed by some of the NY rising stars - Charles "Hotlips" Porter (trumpet, arranger) and Danny "Shaggy" Kirkhum (trombone).
